OnePoll’s online survey for premium drink mixers brand Fever-Tree asked 2,000 Americans of legal drinking age about their favorite types of drink and explored the various stereotypes associated with different types of alcohol.
55% of people polled believe their drink of choice “says a lot” about what kind of person they are.
Fruity drink fans were most likely to describe their personalities as “fun” rather than “serious”, and “carefree” rather than “driven”.
On the other side of the spectrum, those who prefer spicy drinks are well aware of how rare they are in comparison, and frequently designated themselves as the “black sheep” of their group.
Half of all drinkers (50%) and beer drinkers (49%) admitted to feeling “embarrassed” to order their drink of choice in public, compared to only 18% of cocktail drinkers and 13% of mixed drink enthusiasts.
Although respondents said they’ve been ordering their go-to drink for five years on average, 40% said that their preferences had changed during the pandemic.
The key research findings were illustrated in the infographic seen here, and also animated in video format. A data-led news story was created and distributed on behalf of the brand, securing over 80 pieces of media coverage across national and regional news sites and consumer and food publications – with multiple links to the Fever-Tree website.
