OnePoll polled 2,000 American parents about tech burnout in their children and asked what tools they find effective for helping their children manage stress.
The online study found 77% of respondents believed having their child take a break from technology could vastly improve their mental and emotional health.
Two-thirds of parents said they can actually tell when their child is just as stressed as they are with the year’s events – and 68% had begun to teach their child how to manage their stress because of the events of the past year.
Sixty-four percent of parents surveyed said their child was noticeably more irritable or anxious when they spent the entire day looking at a screen. As respondents reflected on their time in quarantine, 62% said they regreted not enforcing screen time rules earlier, despite nearly three-quarters sharing they’d learned to adapt their household screen time rules.
The study also identified the top challenges children and their parents had to face since the start of the pandemic, and the most effective stress management tools parents had taught their children. The research was part of Circle’s ‘Digital Wellness for the New Year’ campaign in early 2021.
